Sherlock in Gloucester!

By Fatima K - January 26, 2015

Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington were in Gloucester this week filming Sherlock! That’s right, I did say Gloucester. Gloucester can’t be that bad considering Harry Potter, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Wolf Hall, Merlin (the BBC series) and many, many more have been filmed in parts of Gloucester.  In fact, this link here gives a list of just a few filmings at Puzzlewood! Eek!
The crowd
Anyway, I heard about the coming of Benedict Cumberbatch from my aunty and Friday, on my lunch break, we decided (a friend and I) to go and see if we could catch a glimpse. It didn’t take much to persuade my friend to come along!
“Benedict Cumberbatch is filming for Sherlock at the cathedral! My aunt saw the back of his head, want to come see if we can see him? “
“... ... yes.” And so off we went.

We waited a while with others that were already there to see if they came out of the door. We went nearer the door, by the side of the door, far away from the door and then closer again but we had no luck. The only people going in and out of that door were other staff members, no one we knew! There was already a small crowd of girls who ‘oooohhh’ed every time that tiny door opened, but unfortunately for us all it was not the people we were hoping to see.
Not even the back of his head.
Oh well. We went and that was an adventure in itself. It was an ‘I was there moment’.
p.s read the paper the next morning and they appeared AFTER lunch – a bit late for us because we went DURING our lunch!!
Never mind, I’m sure there will be many other opportunities :)

Keep reading, F x

  2. I've never seen the Sherlock Series, but Benedict Cumberbatch seems like a great actor. It's so nice to live in a country with such famous international actors and you can never miss the opportunity to catch a glimpse of them on the street unknowingly or at film locations like these. Even though you didn't get to see him, at least there was a sense of his presence somehow, haha. :)
