TreatYoSelf&Plan #1

This week I'm joining Italian Hurricane in the TreatYoSelf&Plan link up. Let me start with this - how awesome is this idea!! I really do agree with the whole point of this post - we should treat ourselves!

So, each week we treat ourselves a little and make goals for next week too :)

Last week:

  • I bought myself an glass outliner and my plan was to use it, not just leave it around the house unopened and forgotten. Yeah...I do that sometimes. But guess what, I actually used it :) (evidence of this is on my previous post - check it!)

  • I teamed up with a friend to buy some amazing new gym gear - because who doesn't need new clothes!? I'm super excited to get the new tops and can't wait to wear and blog about them soon! Whoop! Interested? Check out their cool designs. They also have a SALE on!!
  • I started reading a book that has been in my to-read pile for....a while...finally!

Next week's goals:
  • Finish reading a book
  • Start reading the new Ms Marvel book,
  • Work on getting myself a website
  • Doodle on more items!!
Ok, so some of those goals are definitely achievable but the website one... we'll have to see! That's a huge goal!!

What are your goals for this week? How did you do with last week?

Useless Updates #1

So I've decided to join Areeba this week and do a Useless Updates post - because why not?! What's more important than sharing useless information? I speak nonsense on a regular basis so it shouldn't be too bad ;)

My Glass Bottle
1. This week, I procrastinated like a boss :) Instead of doing what I really should have - research -I decided to decorate a bottle and have already began formulating ideas for the next one!

2. I did my best ever yet impression of a lemon. See fasting is difficult anyway, but this year it's especially difficult because of the long days. It's going surprisingly well so far but we all have our moments. Anyway, this week I had a few of those moments and that's when I did it - my best ever yet impression of a lemon.

Note: during this moment, I did realise how fortunate I am to have access to clean water, food, health, electricity...the list goes on. That's when my lemon impression skills were brushed under the carpet ready for another day.

What have you been up to?

Ok, so I have a confession to make...I've been avoiding blogging for a while. Well, for about two weeks. See, the thing is, I thought that now my Inspired By Random series is over, what should I do? It was as if I needed more inspiration and whatever I came up with just wasn't good enough. And then I thought I could write something about Ramadan because its currently Ramadan but still, total mind blank. I just kept hitting a brick wall and it was so ANNOYING!!

I still haven't really got an idea I'm happy with, but I do have one for todays post.

Yesterday, I went to a talk and it was somewhat along the lines of intentions. This reminded me of the first and last assembly that was given to us every year during secondary school. Yep, you read right, each school year at the beginning and at the end, the head would have an assembly on the importance of intentions (it worked obviously).

Our head stressed that every time we go into something, whether it be education, making choices, even when doing things for people, we should look at what our intentions are. Why are we doing this? I've found that this does help. I think it's really really important, from both a religious and a non-religious perspective, that we go into things knowing our intentions. Intentions do make a difference.

See, if we know our intention from the beginning, it's as if we know what foot to start with, we aren't hesitating and wavering, we know what it means to us. It definitely helps to find out what is important to us and what isn't. An example - a very simple example - is clothes. Are you deicing to wear that for yourself or is it for another reason? Then, are you comfortable with your answer? Knowing this from the beginning adds meaning to our actions and it means we can say "screw this" or "no way, this matters to me" because we know, personally what our intentions were before we started. It matters.

So, have you taken a look at your intentions recently?

P.S. you can still add your link to the Inspired By Random: Book Titles series!!

A New Use for 'Blah'

Sometimes I think if we were to go back, it would be ok.

By go back in time I mean to say primary or secondary school age - but only if I knew then what I know now.

So the thing is, I'm a fan of my primary school years but not a fan of my secondary school years and given the choice, I wouldn't really want to go back. Lately however, I've been thinking how simple everything was back then. My biggest worry was if my homework was correct, if I would pass the next class test and if the girl who sat in front of me would ever get caught with her mobile in school. Other worries included things like how long my tamagotchi would survive without me, if the latest book in a series I was reading would have a hundred reservations on it and as if that wasn't stressful enough, I still made time to watch CBBC and CITV after school.

That was as complicated as it went as luckily I kept busy reading and avoiding life - or drama- as best as I could.

Now it's all so complicated. I'm constantly reminded that I can no longer keep avoiding life (I have been for the past few months *smug face*) and that decisions matter. This makes me feel... uuuggghhhh *bangs head against table*.

Therefore, I propose that we should all regularly have a moment, or several moments, to say 'blah'. That's right, you read correctly. I did just type 'blah'. Sing the words blah blah blah to your favourite tune, shout it at the top of your voice, whisper it to your self, skip to it, do whatever works for you!

Go on, try it. Use the magic word 'blah' in moments of madness and let it help you embrace life! :)

Also, do let me know how it goes!!
